Black Welsh Mountains on fire at Raglan Show & Sale!
NO BLACK FRIDAY!
Black Welsh Mountain Breeders enjoyed a flying trade once again at the Official Show & Sale at Monmouthshire Livestock Centre.
Records tumbled all day with top selling at 3,600gns for the 1st prize Shearling ram & Male Champion from Glenda Wyn Hughes, Caernarfon, and purchased by DG & EM Clarke, Newtown.
Next best at 3,000gns was the 1st prize Shearling ewe & Female Champion from MD & DL Evans, Abergavenny, who also stood Champion at the Royal Welsh Show, and sold today to the same buyers, DG & EM Clarke. S Barnett, Bridgwater sold his homebred Shearling ram at 2,500gns to IB & HA Jones, Llanbrynant.
MD & DL Evans were in the mix again with their 2nd prize Shearling ewe, selling at 2,000gns to NJ & JO Tamplin, Abertridwr, and then again at 1,600gns with their 4th prize Shearling ram selling to MD Bufton & JD Pryce, Newtown.
Ffion Evans then sold her 3rd prize Shearling ram at 1,500gns to O Baum-Jones, Pontllyfni. W Workman, Trecastle topped the ram lambs at 1,400gns with his 1st prize & Reserve Male Champion entry selling to EO Williams, Talybont On Usk.
C Garn, Monmouth sold his 2nd prize pair of Shearling ewes at £1,150gns apiece, and taken by DG & EM Clarke, Newtown, with Glenda Hughes selling her 1st prize pair at 1,000gns apiece to the same buyers DG & EM Clarke.
A string of sheep sold at 800gns with W Workman selling his 5th prize Shearling ewe to S Roberts, Denbigh, Gwawr & Elgan Williams, Pwllheli, selling their 3rd prize Shearling to Messrs Strong & Hendey, Worcester. Bethan Harries, Nantgaredig sold the 5th prize Ram lamb to T Townsend, South Molton and C & G Williams, Llandeilo sold their 2nd prize Ram lamb to MW Evans, Gower.Bethan Harries sold her 4th prize Shearling ewe at 750gns to S Roberts, Denbigh.
C Garn sold ewe lambs to 750gns for the 1st prize & Reserve Female Champion, taken by H Davies, Blackwood with his 1st prize pair selling at 650gns apiece to the same buyer.
S Matthews, Pengenffordd sold her 5th prize, Cefn bred tup at 700gns to E Meredith, Merthyr Tydfil.
MJ McCaull, Hereford sold the 5th prize Shearling ram at 700gns to Messrs Davies & Owen, Conwy. Gwawr & Elgan Williams also hit 700gns with a Shearling ram, selling to Messrs Strong & Hendey.
