2024 Flock Competiton Results

Flock COmpetition Results

It's now possible to release the results of the 2024 BWMSA Flock Competition. Huge thanks are due to Mair James for travelling all over the Country to visit all the participating flocks. It was a mammoth undertaking and the Association is very grateful to her. Without the kindness of members, agreeing to carry out these roles, it would be much harder to the Association to function.

"I would like to congratulate all the competitors who took part in this Flock competition.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the members for their warm welcome during my recent visit. I greatly appreciate it and look forward to enjoying your company again soon.

I would like to extend my congratulations to all the competitors who took part in this year’s flock competitions. Your dedication and hard work are truly commendable.

It is heartening to see that the breed is in such a strong position, with the exceptional quality of stock being exhibited. As a proud member of this society, I take great satisfaction in witnessing the continued success and prominence of the Black Welsh Mountain.

The Black Welsh Mountain is a truly remarkable and versatile breed. Its hardiness, efficiency, and adaptability make it well-suited for various environments. Many of our members have successfully diversified their flocks, producing high-quality wool for clothing, blankets, and other textiles. Additionally, institutions such as Plas Dwbl College in Pembrokeshire have demonstrated the breed’s sustainability, achieving self-sufficiency through their Black Welsh Mountain stock.

Renowned for their gentle nature, these sheep are one of the strongest breeds at most shows, particularly at the Royal Welsh. Their manageable size and calm temperament make them an excellent choice for shepherds of all ages, from young handlers to experienced breeders.

I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the members for their warm welcome during my recent visit. Your hospitality was greatly appreciated, and I look forward to spending more time in your company in the near future".
