Desert Weyr Flock

Our performance oriented Black Welsh Mountain flock is located in the foothills of the western Rocky Mountains. At 6200 feet with limited shelter our tough Colorado bred sheep have been performing with good lambing rates and carcass yields for over 28 years. Rams spend the winter in open pens with just hay. Ewes have some shelter but are never housed. We use guardian dogs to protect the flock from predation from bears, mountain lions, wolves, coyotes, foxes and bobcats as well as eagles and other birds. Our ewes lamb out on pasture.

We collect data for EBVs through the US National Sheep Improvement Program and provide breeding stock to people all over the US and Canada. Meat is available through our on-line store of pickup at the farm and we provuide mutton to several caterers and restaurants in the area. We ship wool and yarn all over the US for knitters and weavers.
