*RWAS Shepherd’s Competition 2024*

It was certainly a show to remember for the Evans family this year, as they came out on top in the Royal Welsh Show’s Shepherd’s Competition.

The Shepherd’s Competition, is awarded annually in the sheep section for how exhibitors present their animals and pens, also including points for preparation of sheep and handling, sheep husbandry and the number of entries made and exhibited at the show.

The judges this year were Ms. Kate Bevan and Mr Meurig Evans, who deemed the Evans family well deserved winners of the Ronald and Sue Jones, Meinigwynion Mawr Award, who were of course respected breeders and members of BWMSBA in their time.

Mathew and Donna Evans, run both pedigree Cefn & Skirrid Black Welsh Mountain flocks as well as Skirrid Fawr & Llew Torddu Badger Face Welsh Mountain flocks, alongside their children Ffion 13, and Llewellyn 11, in Llanfihangel Crucorney, Abergavenny.

The Evans family successfully exhibited 18 animals across different breeds during this year’s show.

The association and its members wish to congratulate Mathew, Donna, Ffion and Llewellyn on their fantastic achievement.
